Bar Lounge
Whilst you are staying at The Swiss Cottage in Shanklin why not enjoy a relaxing drink during our warm summer evenings in our comfortable honesty bar lounge or our decked patio area/furniture and watch the world go by.
Please do not bring alcohol onto the premises, as its against our licencing laws.
Please do not bring takeaways onto the premises, for our Health & Hygiene reasons.
When open, we have a selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks available at our competitively priced honesty bar.
If you do not wish to go out why not stay in and relax & catch up on your television programs on our large 42 inch Flat Screen Smart TV, which also has Digital & Sky & Netflix channels plus DVD Player or use our Free WIFI service to catch up with those emails.
On the first floor, we have a dry lounge/quiet room so you can catch up on some reading, play cards or just to relax in.
After a good nights sleep, come down and read your daily papers/magazines/laptops etc in the Guests Lounge (please do not take them in our dining room) or catch up with the news and weather on the TV.
Dining Room
We are continuing with the split breakfast services to maintain the safe social distancing. We will open the doors for Breakfast, on entry you have a choice of 7 different cereals, various flavours of fruit yoghurts, jams & marmalades, health bars that you may choose from and take to your table as everything you need or have ordered will be placed on your designated tables i.e. milk, water, bowl of mixed berries & natural yoghurt (extra charge applies) and fruit juice, (Porridge on request) teas & coffees.
The 2 Services are at: 8am & 9am. If you have a preference on your breakfast time, let us know in advance, otherwise we will just allocate you a time slot.
All of our breakfasts are pre-ordered the day before and are freshly prepared ready to serve you, which makes for a faster more efficient service and to ensures that you can enjoy the whole day ahead. (local produce when available from local butchers, grocers and farms).
You can order a variety of excellent breakfasts from our Full 7 item English breakfast or just try the lighter option of up to 2 items or Croissant with Scrambled Egg & Smoked Salmon, Egg/Bacon/Sausage sandwiches or a tasty smoked double Kipper & bread, veggie options, accompanied by a variety of fruit, herbal, decaf & black teas or decaff, granulated, cafetiere coffees or something different like Latte or Cappuccino or Hot Chocolate plus white/brown/wholemeal toast as required with your choice of 3 jams, 4 marmalade’s, honey, marmite or golden syrup to prepare you for the day ahead.
However if you have any specific dietary or food allergies, please let us know when you book, so we are fully aware and can cater for your needs, if we can.
Teenagers have their own breakfast menu which is a smaller variation of the Adults or they can upgrade to the full Adult menu with a £3 supplement.
And finally we ask all our guests to come in for Breakfast appropriately dressed and correct footwear etc, as you would in any restaurant i.e. no swimsuits, no dressing gowns and no bare feet. Thank you.

Accommodation
The modern and tastefully decorated 7/8 En-suite rooms, two of which are on the Ground Floor for accessible needs, offer flexible accommodation for up to 16 guests.
All rooms have 32 inch flat screen smart digital TVs with Netflix for you to watch over 100 channels plus 30 radio stations or listen to some music on your CD/DAB radio alarm clock.
We have also installed USB plugs in one of the sockets per room.
We provide each room with an extensive range of complimentary beverages, fresh milk (on request), mini fridge, fan and a hairdryer in your room plus a trouser press, iron and ironing board and shoe polish equipment are on the landing for you to use.
We have black out curtains in all rooms and all front facing rooms have extra roller blinds to keep out the morning sunshine for a good nights sleep.
We have 6 car spaces on our forecourt & free parking in the road. A helpful map on how to park is in the hallway.
We currently do not have any outside charging ports but we can use an extension from our shed/private area round the back of the property.
Extra Charge for recharging for cars & motorised scooters is £1 per hour, so £10 per night or up to 12 hours to help towards the extra cost.
Double room
We are able to arrange accommodation to provide up to five En-suite Double Rooms at any one time, depending on availability.
Two are situated on the Ground Floor, Room 2 has a large walk-in shower within the room area and a seating area into the front bay. Room 1 has a separate shower room with a cubicle and extra sitting room.
The other three are on the First Floor, Room 7 is a slightly Larger Double Room with two tub chairs and a separate bathroom with bath and mixer tap shower above.
The other two Deluxe Doubles both have En-suite shower rooms. Room 8 has a separate shower room with a cubicle and Room 10s is within the room area.
As all our rooms are slightly different, if you have a specific request or type of room you require, then just get in touch and we will see what we can do.
If you book on any our Booking Sites, we will just allocate you a room as per our availability at the time of your booking not unless you make a special request as above.
All Double Rooms are available for Adult/Senior single occupancy with an extra charge of £14 in our Mid Season & £28 during our High Season.
Single / Twin room
There are two standard Twin Rooms on the First Floor, Room 6 has a bathroom with bath & power shower above & Room 11 (more for single travellers} as it has a galley shower cubicle in the room.
Sorry, we do not have any Twin Rooms on the Ground Floor.
Both Single/Twin rooms are available for Adult/Senior single occupancy with an extra charge of £7 in our Mid Season & £14 during our High Season.
Family Suite
We are now only using one Family Suite on the First Floor, which can accommodate up to two adults sharing an En-suite double room and one or two teenagers sleeping on single beds, in an adjoining twin room, all within the same suite & all sharing the same bathroom facilities. It has its own corridor and doors to each room and also an outer door that can be locked for your own privacy. This room is only available if we haven’t already let out either the Double or Twin room already.
When available, we can also let out two rooms on the First Floor – Rooms 10 a Double En Suite and Room 11 Twin En Suite which are adjacent each other for families but they are not interconnecting. Adult Rates apply. By Law One adult must be/stay with one child, as children 13 to 16 years of age are not allowed to be unsupervised.
And Finally we can also let out two rooms on the Ground Floor – Room 1 Double En Suite & Room plus sofa bed annex & Room 2 the Large Double En Suite for up to 4/5 people, as they have a private corridor and a separate outer door that can be locked to for your own privacy. Adult Rates apply.
Please note that we DO NOT take children or babies under the age of 13 years of age.
General Information
Are you attending a special occasion or just want to be pampered, why not try one of our local therapists who offer great rates for facials, body massages, hand & foot care, nails and waxing and hairdressers all at reasonable prices.
Our Check In Time is between 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Please notify us of your ETA.
On your arrival you will be greeted by us but please keep to your proposed arrival time to ensure we are in to greet you.
Should your arrival be delayed for any reason, we ask guests out of courtesy to contact us to advise us of your amended arrival time.
This then allows us time to show you to your room and explain our procedures and answer any questions regarding Shanklin or your stay with us that you may have.
Therefore any arrivals after 7:00pm are by prior arrangement/agreement, as after that a late fee of £5 per room per hour will apply.
On your sad and final day, our Room Check Out time is 10:00am.
We then strip and thoroughly clean and sanitise the room ready for the next guests arrivals 24 hours later from 3:00pm onward.

If during your stay you find something that is not to your liking or something isn’t working, please come and discuss the problem with us personally, as so very often the smallest of things can be rectified quickly, as your 100% satisfaction and holiday enjoyment is our No 1 main priority, so if there is anything we can provide or assist you with, whilst you are with us in our home, please do not hesitate to ask and we will try our upmost to accommodate.
In summary, the holiday accommodation at The Swiss Cottage has the high standards of a Hotel, but with the friendly, personal touch of a family-run B & B by Keith & Christine Beckett.
A home from home where guests meet as strangers and leave as friends.

Footnote;
However we would like to keep our property for all our guests, so please respect our home and the effort we have put into maintaining the property for your enjoyment. We have liaised and been inspected by the Hotel Inspectors from Visit England several times and they checked out our guidelines/rules/requests and have passed every single one as good constructive housekeeping. So please help us to help you by keeping your rooms tidy, open your curtains, be environmentally friendly by turning off showers/heaters & lamps etc when you go out, straighten your beds for us so we can make them, please rinse your cups out, clear up any spillages or notify us and don’t leave wet towels on the floor or bed and so on. However we must remind all guests that any breakages to equipment or furnishings will be charged to yourselves, whether its by accident or not. If these simple guidelines are too much for you to appreciate then we ask that you kindly stay somewhere else! Although you are paying for our service, please remember that you are staying in someone else’s house as our guest and we ask you to help us to help you as you would at home!
